  • Suffix  Jr.
    Birth  04 Mar 1926
    • From his headstone at Nichols Cemetery
    Gender  Male
Died  7 Dec 1941  Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii Find all individuals with events at this location
    • Supposed to have died at Pearl Harbor, his headstone at Nichols Cemetery lists his date of death as "Nov. 10, 1944" and notes "He died in service to his country." Given his birthdate it is very unlikely that he died in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor as he would only have been 15-16 years old at the time. While it was not uncommon for underage men to enlist in the military during WWII, this would have meant that Joel would have enlisted while he was underage, before the US entered WWII, completed his training and had been assigned to a ship stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked in 1941.
